WTCKL Offers to Help the Government by Providing its Venue as a Vaccination Centre

KUALA LUMPUR, February 2021: World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur announced its participation in the effort to vaccinate the 70 per cent of the population to reach the herd immunity threshold, hence recovering the national economy.

The decision to provide its venue as the vaccination centre is in line with the National Vaccination Plan that is scheduled to start in February, as the government has allocated RM2 billion (US$507 million) for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

With a total of 13,456 square metres of space covering 5 spacious halls and 19 rooms, WTCKL has sufficient resources in assisting both the public health and Malaysia’s economic recovery.

“Our centre will be optimal as a vaccination centre as it offers a huge space for vaccination zoning purposes such as parking spaces, multiple entry points, waiting areas and vaccination zones. We hope that we could reduce the load on public healthcare facilities and help ensure a more efficient process towards recovery,” said Dato’ Seri Dr. Irmohizam Ibrahim, Executive Director of World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

He also added that this initiative could help healthcare centres reduce their overhead cost and logistical burdens by repurposing the unused spaces in WTCKL as storage spaces for vaccines, essential equipment and medical supplies.

World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur formerly known as Putra World Trade Centre is Malaysia’s pioneer convention centre in Malaysia. This venue has hosted numerous local and international exhibition and conventions since 1985 and continue to evolve its service offerings today.
